A Taste of D of E

Year 8 try out the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh challenge!

Year 8 students kicked off this half term with an exciting Duke of Edinburgh Bronze taster session held on Wednesday 23rd April.

The session offered students a valuable introduction to the award they can take part in when they begin their Bronze journey in Year 9.

Working brilliantly in teams and making the most of the glorious sunshine outside, students put their navigation, communication and organisational skills into practice as they completed a range of challenges linked to different elements of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

The session offered a great example of learning beyond the classroom, helping students to build confidence, teamwork and resilience.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a nationally recognised youth achievement programme that supports young people in developing life skills through volunteering, physical activity, skill‑building and adventurous activities.

Miss Sumner, who manages the Bronze, Silver and Gold DofE Programme here at Queen's Park High School said,

"We are extremely proud of the effort, enthusiasm and engagement shown by our Year 8 students and look forward to welcoming many of them onto the Bronze Award next year."
