Information for University & College Admissions
Since the school closed to our Year 12 students on Wednesday 18th March 2020, efforts were made by their teachers to provide a continuation of learning through the remote learning platform - Microsoft Teams.
The vast majority of our Year 12 students were able to engage in the tasks set virtually, although some did not have appropriate access to the technology required to engage in remote education. Students continued to follow their normal timetables with their learning taking place through a combination of live lessons and independent classwork.
From Tuesday 15th June, the school partially re-opened for Year 12 students on a Monday and/or a Tuesday for some face-to-face lessons and teaching. Whilst this was a reduction in the amount of contact time, independent learning tasks were set to compensate. Some students were unable to attend as they were isolating at home, but most engaged in some form or another.
The closure meant that our end of year examinations could not take place and as such, predicted grades have been based on a estimated trajectory from the progress students would have made from the point of closure, coupled with a consideration of the impact of our restructure of the curriculum to facilitate catch-up and course alterations.
The UCAS guidance process has been significantly disrupted and whilst sessions and guidance were available during lockdown, the 1-2-1 tutorial support was not. Considerations and decisions around applications are now being supported in the new school term with students revisiting their aspirations and course application planning for September 2021.
