Coronavirus Update – School Payments
A number of adaptations to school life are being made for when students return, taking into consideration the safety of students and staff and the practicalities of the school environment. Amongst the changes is the decision that cash will no longer be accepted as payment within school for trips, equipment sales, books, exam fees and other items that are handled by the Finance Team. During the remainder of this academic year, students will also be unable to use the cash loader machine for cashless catering. Lunch accounts must be topped up using ParentMail. Any students with a free school meal allowance will still be able to purchase their lunch in the same way as before. The main reason for this is that handling and exchanging cash does represent a risk of spreading the virus, and this risk can be reduced by taking this step.
All payments should now therefore be made via ParentMail – see below for further information.
ParentMail brings all your school information together in one simple, convenient application! Whether you have one child or more at multiple schools, from just one account you can manage school communications, top up your child’s dinner money and pay for trips and other items quickly and easily using your smartphone, tablet or computer.
The advantages of ParentMail are:

- Link to other schools or clubs that also use ParentMail
- Easily pay for items using your preferred payment method
- Authorise attendance for trips and events with no need to return paper forms
- When due, refunds can be processed quicker and back to the payer's account, with no need to bank cheques
- Use of ParentMail provides parents with easy access to receipts, a record of student purchases (including meals in the canteen) and letters from school
- No risk of students losing money
We will inform you about items you need to pay for through ParentMail, and you will be able to pay electronically, using any major credit or debit card and PayPal. You can also pay using cash via your nearest PayPoint retailer. All transactions are secure as all communications with the bank are encrypted, just like purchasing from online retailers.
How to get started with ParentMail
Registering with ParentMail is very easy. We will send you an email asking you to register - please sign up as soon as you receive it.

Please remember that once you have registered, it is important that you keep us updated with your email and mobile numbers so we can make any changes necessary and ensure you do not miss out on important communications.

Once registered, if you have an Android or Apple smartphone, we would highly recommend you download the ParentMail App for the best user experience. To do this, simply search for 'ParentMail' in your App store.
Cash payments via a PayPoint
The easiest way to pay via ParentMail is electronically using a credit/debit card or PayPal account and we would ask you to use this method, whenever possible. However, we recognise that there may be circumstances which mean you cannot pay electronically and ParentMail does have the facility for you, or the school, to generate a barcode to take to your nearest PayPoint retailer where you can pay in cash.
There are three PayPoint retailers within a few minutes’ walk of the school - at Martins newsagents, Co-Op and Vendees Local. Please note that the minimum amount that can be paid in cash at a PayPoint is £5.00. You can purchase items that are less than £5.00 but they will have to be purchased with other ParentMail items so that the total value of your basket is at least £5.00.

Equipment available to order through school
Queen’s Park High School recommends that your child has the following items and they are now available for you to order from school via ParentMail:
- Casio FX83GT-X Scientific Calculator £ 9.00
- Oxford School Geometry Set £ 1.00
- Headphones £ 1.00
These items will be available to purchase throughout the year but if you would like the items to be distributed to your child at the start of the Autumn Term. Please pay via ParentMail by 6th July 2020.
Lockers are available for students to hire at any point during the academic year (subject to availability). Costs for the hire of lockers is outlined below:
- Deposit for key £5.00
- Charge for replacement key £5.00
- Deposit refunded on return of key £5.00
Payment must be made via ParentMail. To help with planning, if your child would like to hire a locker from the start of the Autumn Term, please ensure you have purchased a key via ParentMail by 6th July 2020. We will let your child know where they can collect their key when they return to school.
All lockers will be cleared during the summer holidays, so it is important that they are emptied by students at the end of each academic year. We know this year is slightly different due to COVID19, so we will operate a two week period in September for students to clear lockers if they know longer require them.
