Following the success of last week’s A Level Results, Queen’s Park High School is now celebrating some exceptional GCSE results that provide still further evidence that it is rapidly moving towards its goal of being an ‘outstanding’ school. The relentless endeavour of students and staff has seen attainment in Maths and English rise by over 10% this year. Furthermore, students making expected progress in English is now over 80%, this coupled with students achieving the top grades across all subject areas, and the school achieving its best ever Ebacc performance, provides the clearest indication yet that the school is striding towards excellence for all students.
Amongst the highest performing students were Felicity Weir (8A*s and 4As), Rona Fishburn (8A*s and 2As), Angus Jones (6A*s and 3As), and Jakub Cybulak (5A*s and 5As). These students typify the determination of all students at the school to be successful and to achieve the very best results. Samantha McIlwaine, Humaira Aslam, Tamia Han, Amy Mulholland, Arthur Clouting and Heather Jones also achieved top grades across a range of subjects.
“One of the many rewards of working in education is on days like today, seeing students achieve above and beyond expectation and being rewarded for their endeavours. Our students worked exceptionally hard in preparation for their exams, with many of them even coming into school on Saturday mornings, voluntarily too! I am delighted to see that this hard work and dedication has paid off and I would like to wish them all every success in the future, whether that is in the sixth form here at Queen’s Park or elsewhere. I would also like to thank our parents for their continued support over the last year in particular. This is a day of celebration for all!
Queen’s Park High school is now brimming with future excellence! Whilst our Ofsted inspection in June notably recognised our improvement journey, the one piece of the jigsaw we were missing at the time was some examination results to evidence this. We now have these and are firmly on track to achieve our ambitions for the future”.
