Headteacher's blog

As we approach the end of this half term, I would like to thank you for all of your continued support as we work together as a school community, raising standards and transforming young peoples’ lives.

We have had an extremely successful half term with the overwhelming majority of students focused on learning and doing their absolute best every single day. I am delighted with the way our students have conducted themselves and worn their uniform with confidence and pride.

We have received many positive comments from the community who feel that this has “lifted” our students and given them a greater sense of belonging. They have been a credit to you and our school.

As always, we endeavour to provide our students with a range of enrichment opportunities at Queen's Park High School and this term has featured many, including:

  • A curriculum enrichment day
  • Staff and student inter-house competitions
  • Year 7 & 8 read along with the Head
  • A future careers trip to Airbus

A special mention goes to our Science team, who were shortlisted as one of the top three schools in the whole North West of England for an Educate Award for their commitment to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).

Christmas Jumper Day

We will once again be taking part in the annual Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day, which takes place on Thursday 7th December this year. Students can wear a Christmas jumper and/or Christmas accessories – they do not need to wear a blazer on this day, but must wear the rest of their uniform. We request a voluntary donation be made via ParentMail, with all proceeds going to Save the Children UK. We will also be collecting donations for the West Cheshire Food Bank – tinned, dried and long life goods can be deposited at the collection point upon arrival to school that same day. Students may also wear their Christmas jumpers/accessories on the last day of term.

Christmas Concert

We hope to see you at our school Christmas concert, which is taking place on Tuesday 19th December at St. Mary’s Church, Handbridge at 7:00pm (doors open at 6:45pm). Tickets may be purchased via: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/Queens-Park-High-School/christmas-concert-2023/e-zmgqym

Look out for our newsletter in the new term which showcases the many amazing events that have taken place this term as a result of the hard work, dedication and resilience of our staff and students. Further information about life at QPHS can be found on our website and social media platforms.

A further reminder that school is closed to students on Friday 1st and Monday 4th December for INSET. School closes for the Christmas holiday on Wednesday 20th December 2023 at 12:00 noon and will re-open on Wednesday 3rd January 2024 at 8:40am.

I wish you a wonderful Christmas break with your loved ones, filled with happiness and joy. We look forward to seeing you in the New Year.
Yours sincerely

Mr Tom Kearns
