Post 16 Information Evening

An evening  for Year 11 students and their parents/carers to find out about Post-16 options and talk to Curriculum Team Leaders about the A-levels we offer at QPHS.

Year 11 students and their parents/carers are invited to our Post-16 information evening taking place in the Assembly Room at school on Wednesday 10th October.  The evening runs from 6pm and is an opportunity for students to come and find out more information about their options after Year 11.

Students will discover the many different pathways that are available once they finish their GCSEs. The information will focus on developing students' understanding of the differences between A Levels, Apprenticeships and studying at college. During the evening there will be a chance to talk to our Curriculum Team Leaders who will be able to discuss the different A levels that are on offer at QPHS. An independent Careers Advisor will also be present to support with impartial advice should students require it.

Making decisions about the next stage in your education can be difficult and it is therefore crucial to get all of the information you can.  This evening is seen as the start of students' Post-16 journey. Even if you’ve got ideas that don’t currently include studying in the Sixth Form, we would encourage you to come along as there are a range of options to suit the vast majority of students.  Equipping yourself with all the facts is essential if you are to make an informed decision, and remember, you can apply to more than one provider and then make the final decision later down the line.  Not getting involved at this stage means that your voice is not heard, and your options could be limited later on.

On Wednesday 30th January 2019 there will be a 6th Form Open Evening where Year 11 students will have the chance to see A level classes in action as well as speak to current students. We are also excited to show you the new 6th Form Centre, which will be located in the part of school that the Christleton International Studio is currently occupying.

Attached is a time line of important dates that will help students with their Post-16 journey.

We look forward to giving you a warm welcome and to sharing more information with you on Wednesday 10th October.
