Jubilant Year for QPHS Sixth Formers

Students and staff at Queen’s Park High School are once again celebrating outstanding A Level results for students who have dealt with an incredibly challenging year with such positivity and commitment. Building on the successes of last year, performance has continued to improve across all subject areas with students achieving some outstanding results both individually and across subject areas.

There are countless examples of individual success to celebrate but a special mention must be given to the following students:

Ioan Gwenter who has achieved 4 A*s in Computer Science, Maths, Further Maths and Physics, has been offered a place at Manchester University to continue his studies in Physics. With 3 A* grades in Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths, Julia Neill will be reading Chemistry at Trinity College, Oxford. Dan Williams also achieved 3 A*s and will be continuing on to study Chemistry at the University of Manchester. Megan and Charlie Dixon who both achieved 2 A*s and A grade will be continuing their studies in Physical Geography at Reading and Mathematics and Physics at Warwick respectively. Megan Pritchard was quite rightly very proud of her 2 A*s and an A grade in Biology, Chemistry and Criminology and will continue on to study Biochemistry at the University of Birmingham. Zuzu Lacey achieved 3 A grades in Criminology, English Literature and Psychology and will be continuing on to study English Literature at John Moores University.

Looking beyond the headline grades, there are numerous stories of students who have overcome personal challenges to achieve the grades required to either access higher education, take up apprenticeships or successfully move into employment. We are equally proud of the students who joined us from other schools for the Sixth Form, having been offered a place here based on individual merit and potential, and who have then gone on to exceed their own targets and expectations. These students will be leaving Queen’s Park High School to achieve their ambition of studying at University, further emphasising the holistic approach that the school adopts towards its young people. The school looks forward to hearing about all our students’ future successes.

“I am immensely proud of all of our students and in particular, the way they have excelled in their studies despite the turbulence the pandemic created during their time in our 6th Form. Through commitment to online learning, hard study and engagement in all aspects of school life they have demonstrated a level of resilience which has enabled them to go on to apprenticeships, careers and further study; they will however, always be a part of the Queen’s Park family.”

Head of 6th Form, Vicky Prydden

"I feel very proud of this wonderful cohort of 6th Form students who have been such outstanding ambassadors for the school both within and beyond the classroom. They are the first year group that I have had the fortune of knowing throughout their whole journey through QPHS and it has been a pleasure to see them grow into the delightful young people they are today!

Thank you for being the amazing, resilient role models that you are, we know you will all go far in life! Seize your futures with both hands and may the memories and friendships that you have made here at Queen’s Park remain with you as you embark on your next adventures. We will most certainly miss you all!”
